Hearing Loss
Many people have hearing loss. Sometimes it is the result of illness. But other factors including excessive noise, medications, toxins and aging can cause hearing loss. For some, medical treatments can restore the ability to hear. For others, hearing aids are the best option available. |
| ENT Associates of East Texas combines medical evaluation with hearing aid selection. Our physicians work with our own in house audiology team to identify the hearing problem, prescribe the right treatment, and decide on the best possible hearing aid. |

Behind the Ear (BTE) instruments are appropriate
for hearing losses from mild to profound.
Directional microphones, multiple listening
programs and a telecoil for telephone compatibility
are available for these models. An earmold is
required for some BTE aids, others use a slim
tube and small ear tip that can be fit in the office. |

The In the Canal (ITC) hearing aid is a smaller
model than the full-shell ITE and is appropriate for
hearing losses from mild to moderately severe.
Good manual dexterity is important for this style.
|

The custom In the Ear (ITE) hearing aid fits
completely in the outer ear and is used for mild to
severe hearing loss. The outer casing, which holds
the components, is made of hard plastic and fills the outer portion of the ear. |

The Completely In the Canal (CIC) hearing aid is
almost invisible. If cosmetic appeal is important,
many have found this to be a viable option. The
appropriateness of this style of hearing aid is limited
to the degree of hearing loss and one’s manual
dexterity. |
Advanced Digital Technology
Digital hearing aids offer today's most advanced technology. Digital hearing aids are programmable hearing instruments with digital circuits. Digital circuits are more flexible than previous analog circuits, and can be programmed to match the patient's individual hearing loss, often at each specific frequency or pitch.
New digital technology includes a more natural sound quality, less circuit noise, faster processing of sound, automatic noise reduction, automatic volume control and wind noise suppression The new open fit BTE style eliminates many common complaints such as a feelings of being stopped up or sounding "down in a well." |
Our audiology team is trained on the most recent advances in digital technology and ready to assist you in choosing the hearing aid that is right for your lifestyle, hearing loss and budget.
